Learn how engineering research moves from the lab to patient care with David Margolis
How can engineering research lead to new approaches in patient care? NRT students can explore the connection between biomedical engineering, medicine and clinical practice during a seminar with David Margolis, MD, PhD, on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026.
Dr. Margolis is a physician-scientist and orthopedic surgeon whose research interests include biomaterials, implantable sensors, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. His scientific work has focused on collaborative, translational research aimed at developing technologies and biomaterials for clinical applications.
How can engineering research translate into clinical applications?
During the seminar, Dr. Margolis will share his career journey and discuss how his work brings together engineering, scientific research and patient care. Students will learn about research involving implantable sensors, biomaterials, and tissue regeneration, and how discoveries in these areas can move toward real-world clinical applications.
The session will also give students a closer look at a career that bridges biomedical engineering and medicine, including the role collaboration can play in translating research beyond the lab.
