NRT Trainee Leads Comprehensive Review on Copper Powder Bed Fusion Technologies
NRT trainee Vi Ho has led a new comprehensive review article examining the current state of copper powder bed fusion technologies in additive manufacturing. The review compares laser- and electron-beam-based powder bed fusion processes, highlighting recent advances in process optimization, material properties, electrical conductivity, thermal performance, and the manufacturing challenges associated with copper components.
As first author and corresponding author, Vi synthesized findings from research institutions across the United States, Germany, and Australia, providing an extensive overview of emerging trends and future directions in copper additive manufacturing.
This publication reflects the interdisciplinary research, technical expertise, and international collaboration fostered through the NSF NRT Medical Device Manufacturing & Design program.
