NRT Spring Seminar Series: Dr. Zakia Ahmed

The NSF NRT Program in Medical Device Manufacturing & Design was pleased to host a Spring NRT Seminar Series talk featuring Dr. Zakia Ahmed, Senior Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer at Raytheon.

Dr. Ahmed brings extensive experience in applied engineering and industry-driven research. During her seminar, she shared insights into how advanced engineering training, particularly in mechanical systems and control engineering, translates into real-world, high-impact applications in industry and defense sectors.

Her talk offered students a valuable perspective on career pathways beyond academia, highlighting how research skills, systems thinking, and technical rigor are applied in industrial environments. The seminar also sparked an engaging discussion with NRT students, who asked thoughtful questions about transitioning from graduate research to industry roles and navigating interdisciplinary engineering careers.

We are grateful to Dr. Ahmed for taking the time to share her professional journey and expertise with our NRT community. This seminar marked a strong start to our Spring Seminar Series, which aims to connect trainees with professionals working at the intersection of research, innovation, and real-world implementation.
